Security Guard Software
for Memphis Companies

CGuardPro is security guard management software for Memphis guard companies working Shelby County and the suburbs from Bartlett to Germantown and Collierville: scheduling and relief coverage, GPS and selfie clock-in, QR or NFC guard tours, incident and daily activity reports and a client portal, in one web command center with guard, supervisor and client apps for iOS and Android. It costs $5 per user per month, with a 7-day free trial. Memphis is a freight city, air cargo, rail and river, with a nightlife district on top, and Tennessee adds a training deadline for officers posted where alcohol is served.

What does guard work in Memphis look like?

The air cargo hub

The FedEx World Hub at Memphis International Airport works through the night, and the forwarders, trucking yards and warehouses around it want gate posts and yard rounds on the same hours.

Distribution on both sides of the line

Big distribution buildings in southeast Memphis continue south into DeSoto County, Mississippi. A company working both sides schedules them together and checks each state’s rules.

Rail and the river

Intermodal rail yards and Mississippi River terminals mean long fences and trailer lots, where checkpoints prove the round was walked.

Medical District and St. Jude

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the hospitals and research buildings of the Medical District staff garages, entrances and escorts around the clock.

Beale Street and FedExForum

Bars and clubs on Beale Street and game and concert nights at FedExForum bring door posts and crowd work, where Tennessee’s alcohol-location training applies.

Visitors and venues

Graceland, hotels and downtown venues add event and lobby posts for a steady stream of visitors.

What does Tennessee require of a guard company in Memphis?

Licensing is statewide, through the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance, Private Protective Services. A contract security company needs a qualifying manager with at least three years of supervisory experience in security or law enforcement. An unarmed guard is at least 18 and completes four hours of training on orientation, legal powers and limits, emergency procedures and general duties, and may work while the application is processed if the fee is paid and a copy is carried. Officers posted where alcohol is served also complete de-escalation, safe restraint, first aid and CPR within 15 days of assignment.

An armed guard is at least 21 and adds 8 classroom firearm hours and 4 hours of marksmanship with a 70% score. Registrations renew every two years: unarmed guards take a 2-hour refresher, armed guards a 4-hour refresher and requalification. Posts across the state line follow Mississippi or Arkansas rules. We have not found a separate City of Memphis or Shelby County guard license; confirm with the city.

CGuardPro stores each registration, refresher and the 15-day alcohol-location training as dated credentials and warns ahead of them; it files nothing with the state. See our Tennessee page and our guide to starting a security company in Tennessee.

Memphis Security Software Questions

What extra training does a Beale Street door officer need?

Tennessee requires officers at locations that serve alcohol to complete de-escalation, safe restraint, first aid and CPR training within 15 days of assignment. Record the assignment date so the deadline is visible.

Can a new unarmed officer start before the Tennessee registration is issued?

Yes, if the application fee is paid and the officer carries a copy of the application, according to the state. The four hours of initial training still come first.

How often do Tennessee guard registrations renew?

Every two years. Unarmed guards complete a 2-hour refresher before renewal; armed guards complete 4 hours and requalify with their firearm.

Does Memphis have its own security guard license?

We have not found a separate city or county license; the state registration is what we verified. Posts in DeSoto County, Mississippi or West Memphis, Arkansas follow those states’ rules.

How do we cover a cargo yard that works all night?

Schedule the posts around the hub’s hours, log every truck at the gate with a plate photo, and run QR or NFC tours of the trailer rows. A missed tour or an uncovered post raises an alert.
