Connecteam alternative
for guard companies whose clients ask for proof

If you are looking for a Connecteam alternative, the first thing to know is that Connecteam is cheaper than we are and does more HR than we do. It is a general employee-management app for deskless teams in every industry, with a free plan for small teams and a security page of its own. CGuardPro is narrower on purpose: it is built around the guard post and the client who pays for it. Which shape you need depends on one question — how much of your week goes into proving to a client that the work was done.

Built around the employee, or built around the post

Connecteam describes itself as an employee management app, organised into Operations, Communications and HR hubs. That is the right design for a cleaning crew, a delivery fleet or a retail chain: the unit of work is a person on a shift, and the customer never looks inside the system. Its security page adds GPS clock-in, geofencing, NFC and QR checkpoint check-ins and incident capture with photos and signatures, so a guard company can make it work, and many do.

Guard software starts somewhere else. The unit of work is a post at a site, with orders, a patrol route and a client who is paying for evidence of presence. Every report is written for a third party. The difference rarely shows in a feature grid. It shows the day a property manager asks what happened at the loading dock at three in the morning, or an insurer asks for an incident record from last spring. We walk through the five places that difference bites in Generic Workforce Apps vs. Guard Software: The Gaps.

What the post-first design gives you

Clock-in is geofenced and carries a selfie and a GPS fix. Checkpoints are QR or NFC codes stamped against our server clock, and a missed tour raises an alert rather than just leaving a gap in a list. The daily activity report is written on shift and handed to the incoming officer automatically. A silent SOS routes into your own control room with a location. Push-to-talk voice lives in the same app, so posts can talk without radios. And each client gets a portal scoped to their own sites, included in the seat price, so the answer to "did the officer do the round" is already on their screen. Trusted by 600+ security companies worldwide.

What we do not do is the rest of HR. Hiring, onboarding paperwork, e-signatures, training courses and time-off policies are not what this product is for, and a general workforce suite will serve them better.

Who should choose Connecteam

A very small firm, first. Connecteam's pricing page lists a free plan for up to ten users, and a company with three officers and one client may never need what a guard platform adds. A firm where security is one line among several — facilities, cleaning, events staffing — also gets more from one app that fits all of them than from one built for guarding. And a firm whose real pain is hiring and onboarding should weigh Connecteam's HR hub heavily; it is a genuine strength and not one we compete on.

Point by point, with our answers

Topic CGuardPro How to check this with any vendor
What the product is built around The guard post: sites, posts, patrol routes, the client who pays for them and the evidence they expect Ask what the core object of the system is — an employee and a shift, or a site with a post order and a client. It decides what every report looks like.
What your client sees Client portal included: your client follows patrols, incidents and reports for their own sites Ask whether your end client gets their own login scoped to their sites, or whether proof of service means you exporting and emailing a file.
Patrols and tours QR or NFC checkpoints scanned with the guard's own phone, verified against server time and GPS, with an alert when a tour is missed Ask to see a missed tour raise an alert to dispatch in the demo, not just a completed one appear in a list.
Daily activity reports and handover Digital DAR with automatic shift handover: the incoming guard opens the outgoing guard's log Ask to see the outgoing shift's log reach the incoming guard without anyone retyping or forwarding it.
Panic and SOS Silent SOS from the guard's phone into your own control room, with last known location and a full record Ask to see the whole path: trigger, delivery, acknowledgement, and the record it leaves afterwards.
Voice on shift Push-to-talk channel inside the same app the guard already carries, no radios to buy Ask whether live voice is part of the platform or whether chat is the only channel between posts.
HR, onboarding and training Not our focus. CGuardPro records the shift and the evidence; HR suites do HR better If hiring, onboarding, e-signatures and training are the pain, weigh them heavily — a broad workforce suite may be the better tool.
Getting to a number Published: $5 per user per month, plus an optional one-time $299.99 implementation package Work out the monthly total for your real headcount on every vendor's published page, including which modules you need.
Trying it before you buy 7-day free trial with full feature access, no credit card Run one real client with its real sites on every trial you take, not a demo account.
Working with no signal Scans, reports, photos and visitor entries queue on the phone and sync later: the report keeps the time it happened, the scan is stamped on arrival, the clock-in needs a connection Ask for it in airplane mode during the demo — and ask what time each record ends up carrying.

Before you decide

Run the same real client through both trials for a week and ask one question at the end: what could you send that client, unprompted, about what happened on their site? The fuller buying checklist is in how to evaluate guard management software, and every comparison we publish is on one page at security guard software compared.

Frequently asked questions

Is Connecteam good for security guard companies?+

Many small guard companies use it, and Connecteam publishes a security page aimed at them offering GPS clock-in, geofencing, NFC and QR checkpoint check-ins, forms and incident capture with photos and signatures. For scheduling, time tracking and team communication it is a capable, well-priced product. The question is not whether it works but what it is built around: an employee and a shift, across every industry. Guard software is built around a site, a post order and a client who wants proof. Which one fits depends on how much of your week is spent producing that proof.

Is CGuardPro a real alternative to Connecteam?+

For a guard company whose clients ask for evidence, yes. CGuardPro covers shift scheduling, geofenced clock-in with a selfie, QR and NFC patrols with missed-tour alerts, daily activity reports with shift handover, a silent panic button, push-to-talk voice, live GPS supervision and a client portal, all built around the post rather than the employee. For a firm that mainly needs scheduling, time tracking, chat and HR paperwork, Connecteam may do more of that for less money, and you should weigh it that way.

Connecteam is cheaper. Why pay more?+

It is cheaper, and we will not argue with arithmetic you can check. Connecteam's pricing page lists a free plan for up to ten users, and each hub from $29 a month for the first 30 users on monthly billing (connecteam.com/pricing, checked September 2026). A 30-person team on CGuardPro is $150 a month at $5 per user. The case for paying the difference is narrow and specific: a client portal your customers log into, a daily activity report that hands itself to the next shift, a panic path into your own control room and voice in the same app. If those do not save you an account or a claim, take the cheaper tool.

What does a general workforce app miss on a guard post?+

Usually not a single feature but the shape of the record. A guard company sells proof of presence to a third party — the client — and that proof has to survive an insurer, an attorney or a contract renewal months later. Our post on the gaps between generic workforce apps and guard software goes through five of them: checkpoints, incident records with a legal shelf life, a client-facing view, an emergency path for a lone officer and a live dispatch view. Use it as a checklist against both products, including ours.

Who should choose Connecteam instead?+

A firm where security is one of several lines of business, or where the real pain is HR: hiring, onboarding, documents to sign, training, time off and recognition. Connecteam publishes all of that in its HR hub, and we do not build it. It is also the obvious choice for a very small team: free for up to ten users is hard to beat, and a firm with three officers and one client may not need anything a guard platform adds.

Can we move over without losing a month?+

The technical part is days: clients, sites and posts, the roster, patrol routes, printed codes and the app on the phones. The optional $299.99 package covers us doing the import and the training. The slower part is organisational — writing post orders into the system and agreeing incident categories. Many firms run one client on the trial first and move the rest once the supervisors have stopped keeping a parallel record.
