Security Guard Software
for Cleveland Companies

CGuardPro is security guard management software for Cleveland guard companies, covering Cuyahoga County and the suburbs from Lakewood to the Heights: scheduling and relief coverage, GPS and selfie clock-in, QR or NFC guard tours, incident and daily activity reports and a client portal, in one web command center with guard, supervisor and client apps for iOS and Android. It costs $5 per user per month, one plan, with a 7-day free trial. Cleveland work leans on large hospital campuses, the lakefront and port, heavy industry along the Cuyahoga, and winters when lake-effect snow decides who can reach a post.

What does guard work in Cleveland look like?

Hospital campuses

The Cleveland Clinic main campus and University Hospitals in University Circle are cities of their own: parking structures, patient towers, research buildings and walkways between them. Rounds, escorts and visitor desks are scheduled around the clock.

University Circle

Museums, the orchestra hall and university buildings share a few square miles east of downtown, each with its own access rules and evening events.

Port and the lakefront

Port of Cleveland terminals on Lake Erie handle cargo ships and trucks, and posts there mix gate control with long walks of the dock edge.

Steel and the Flats

The steel works and manufacturing plants along the Cuyahoga run around the clock, with contractor gates, rail entries and perimeter tours on large, noisy ground.

Game days and Playhouse Square

The downtown stadium, ballpark and arena, plus the theaters of Playhouse Square, add event posts and parking control on top of the weekly schedule.

Winter on the lake

Lake-effect snow can close the east-side suburbs while downtown is clear. When officers call off, the office needs to see the uncovered posts and fill them from whoever can get there, or hold the officer already on duty.

What does Ohio require of a guard company in Cleveland?

Licensing is statewide, through Ohio Homeland Security’s Private Investigator Security Guard Services (PISGS) under ORC Chapter 4749. A guard company holds a Class C (security services) or Class A (investigation and security) license through a qualifying agent with at least two continuous years of security or investigatory experience, carries commercial general liability of at least $100,000 per person and $300,000 per occurrence for bodily injury plus $100,000 property damage, and renews by the first day of March every year.

Each employee is registered with the state no sooner than three and no later than seven calendar days after hire, receives a photo ID card, and the registration expires every year on its anniversary, so a large roster has renewals falling every week. Officers who carry a firearm need 20 hours of handgun training (five more for other firearms) and a requalification within the previous twelve months, noted on the card. We have not found a separate City of Cleveland guard license; confirm with the city before you staff a new kind of post there.

CGuardPro records each registration and firearms requalification on the officer profile with its own date and warns before it runs out; it does not register anyone with PISGS. See our Ohio page and the Ohio licensing guide.

Cleveland Security Software Questions

Which Ohio license does a Cleveland guard company need?

A Class C license covers security services; Class A covers both investigations and security. Either is issued by PISGS through a qualifying agent, and every company license expires on March 1 each year.

How soon must a new Cleveland officer be registered?

Ohio law asks the employer to register a new employee no sooner than three and no later than seven calendar days after the hire date. Put the hire date on the profile the day the officer starts so the window is visible.

Does the City of Cleveland license security guards separately?

We have not found a separate city license; the state registration is the credential we could verify. Confirm with the city and with the client, especially for posts on public property or at events.

What happens on a lake-effect snow day?

Each absence is recorded once and the post shows as uncovered on the coverage board. The supervisor fills it by sending another officer, asking the officer on duty to extend the shift, or moving someone from another post. Clock-in still needs a live connection and happens at the post.

Can one patrol cover several buildings on a hospital campus?

Yes. Build one tour with checkpoints in each garage, tower and walkway, in the order you want. Each scan is verified on the server with time and position, and a missed tour raises an alert.
