Security Guard Software
for Columbus Companies

CGuardPro is security guard management software for companies running posts in Columbus and Central Ohio: scheduling and relief coverage, GPS and selfie clock-in, QR or NFC guard tours, incident and daily activity reports and a client portal, in one web command center with guard, supervisor and client apps for iOS and Android. It costs $5 per user per month, with a 7-day free trial. Columbus work spans state government offices, Ohio State and its medical center, cargo and distribution around Rickenbacker, and large construction east of the city, and Ohio gives you seven days to register each new hire.

What does guard work in Columbus look like?

The seven-day registration window

Ohio wants each new officer registered between the third and the seventh calendar day after hire. A company hiring every week needs to see who is inside that window, which is what a hire date on every profile does.

Rickenbacker and the southern logistics parks

Rickenbacker International Airport is a cargo airport, and the logistics parks around it and along I-71 and I-70 run truck gates and yard tours. Plates are read from a photo at the gate and every checkpoint is verified on the server.

Big construction east of the city

Data centers and a large semiconductor plant project in the New Albany and Licking County area mean long construction perimeters, contractor gates and overnight tours with a photo at each checkpoint.

Ohio State and the medical center

The Ohio State campus, its medical center and Nationwide Children’s Hospital want rounds, escorts and incident categories their security teams recognize, plus event-day crews around Ohio Stadium.

State government and downtown offices

Downtown Columbus is the seat of state government and corporate offices, with lobby desks, visitor logs and after-hours rounds through parking garages.

Arena District and the Short North

Nationwide Arena and the nightlife corridors north of downtown bring event and evening posts on top of the weekly schedule.

What does Ohio require of a Columbus guard company?

Ohio licenses security companies statewide through the Department of Public Safety’s Private Investigator Security Guard Services under ORC Chapter 4749. A guard company holds a Class C (security services) license, or Class A if it also investigates, with a qualifying agent who has two years of experience and passes an exam. It carries commercial general liability of at least $100,000 per person and $300,000 per occurrence for bodily injury and $100,000 for property damage, and the license expires on March 1 each year.

Officers are registered by the company, not licensed individually: no sooner than three days and no later than seven calendar days after the hire date, with a photo ID card, and the registration expires every year on its anniversary. Officers who carry a firearm need 20 hours of handgun training, plus 5 hours for other firearms, and requalification within the preceding twelve months.

CGuardPro records hire dates and registration expiries on each officer and warns before a lapse; it does not submit registrations to PISGS. See our Ohio page and the Ohio license guide.

Columbus Security Software Questions

How does CGuardPro help with Ohio’s seven-day registration rule?

Each officer profile carries the hire date, so you can see every new officer still inside the window between the third and the seventh calendar day after hire. The registration itself is submitted by your company to PISGS; CGuardPro does not file it.

Does Columbus require a city security guard license?

We have not found one. Ohio licenses security companies statewide under ORC Chapter 4749, and officers are registered by their employer with the state.

Can we prove patrols on a construction perimeter at night?

Put QR codes or NFC tags along the fence and at each gate. Every scan is verified on the server with its time and position, the officer can attach a photo, and a tour that is not completed raises an alert.

Can we staff game days around Ohio Stadium without disturbing the weekly schedule?

Yes. Create the game day as its own site with posts per lot or gate, publish the shifts and fill them from qualified officers. The permanent posts keep their schedule.

Can CGuardPro send hours to our payroll provider?

If you use Gusto, approved hours per officer go to Gusto as time sheets classified Regular, Overtime or Double overtime, and your admin runs payroll there. Approved hours by person and post can also go to QuickBooks Online. Otherwise, attendance exports to CSV, Excel or PDF.
