Security Guard Software
for Salt Lake City Companies

CGuardPro is security guard management software for companies running posts in Salt Lake City and along the Wasatch Front: scheduling and relief coverage, GPS and selfie clock-in, QR or NFC guard tours, incident and daily activity reports and a client portal, in one web command center with guard, supervisor and client apps for iOS and Android. It costs $5 per user per month, with a 7-day free trial. Salt Lake work stretches from warehouses in the northwest quadrant to downtown towers, the university and tech campuses down to Lehi, and every Utah officer license expires on the same date, November 30 of even years.

What does guard work in Salt Lake City look like?

One renewal date for everyone

Because every officer license expires on November 30 of an even year, a Utah company feels renewal as a season, not a trickle. Knowing in September who still lacks continuing education hours is the difference between a full roster in December and a short one.

The northwest quadrant and the inland port

Distribution and fulfillment buildings west of the airport and along I-80 want overnight yard tours and truck gate logs, with plates read from a photo and each checkpoint verified on the server.

Tech campuses down the Wasatch Front

Software and tech companies between Salt Lake and Lehi run lobby desks, badge-and-visitor procedures and after-hours rounds. Visitor logs and post orders per building keep each campus on its own rules.

Downtown, the arena and the university

Downtown towers, the Delta Center and the University of Utah with its hospitals combine permanent posts with event nights, all within a few miles.

Data centers and critical sites

Data centers along the Wasatch Front want fixed posts, strict entry logs and patrols where every round is proven, not claimed.

Winter and the mountain towns

Ski season brings temporary posts at resort communities and parking areas. Snow and cold change routes; a photo at a checkpoint shows the client what the officer found.

What does Utah require of a Salt Lake City guard company?

The Utah Division of Professional Licensing (DOPL) licenses security companies and officers statewide under the Security Personnel Licensing Act. A contract security company needs a qualifying agent who is a Utah resident with day-to-day authority, 6,000 hours of compensated management or supervisory experience in a security company (or a law enforcement equivalent) and a passing exam, and the company carries general liability and workers’ compensation insurance. An unarmed officer completes at least 8 hours of basic training; an armed officer adds at least 12 hours of firearms training.

Officer licenses expire on November 30 of even-numbered years, with 32 hours of continuing education per two-year cycle, so the whole roster renews in the same season. Utah has no state overtime law; the federal 40-hour week applies. CGuardPro records licenses and CE on each officer and warns before expiry; it does not file with DOPL. See our Utah page.

Salt Lake City Security Software Questions

How do we avoid losing officers at the November 30 renewal?

Record each officer’s license expiry and continuing education hours in CGuardPro. With 32 hours due per two-year cycle, a list in late summer of who is short on hours gives you time to schedule training before the deadline.

What training does a new unarmed officer need in Utah?

At least 8 hours of basic training, classroom or online, under Utah Code 58-63-302. Armed officers add at least 12 hours of firearms training. Record the course dates on the officer profile so the scheduler sees who is ready.

Does Salt Lake City issue its own guard license?

We have not found a separate city guard license; DOPL licenses companies and officers statewide. A business license from the city is a different matter, so check with the city for that.

Can tech campus tenants pre-register visitors?

Yes. A tenant sends a visitor a QR pass in advance, and the desk officer checks it on arrival. Walk-ins are logged at the desk with who they came to see and when they left.

Does Utah have its own overtime rule CGuardPro must follow?

Utah has no state overtime law, so the federal FLSA 40-hour week applies. CGuardPro shows weekly hours per officer while you schedule, and the Gusto integration classifies approved hours by the federal weekly rule.
