Colorado security guard software
for companies licensed city by city
CGuardPro is security guard management software for Colorado guard companies: scheduling and relief coverage, GPS and selfie clock-in, QR and NFC guard tours, incident reports, visitor logs, tracking for Denver and other city licenses, and a client portal, with guard, supervisor and client apps for iOS and Android. It costs $5 per user per month with a 7-day free trial. Colorado has no state guard license, so the records that matter are the ones you keep per city.
What running guards in Colorado actually involves
No state license, so the city decides
Colorado has no statewide license for security guards or guard companies. Security licensing happens where the post is, and the strictest regime most operators meet is Denver’s.
Denver: a guard license and an employer license
Denver’s Department of Licensing and Consumer Protection issues a security guard license to each officer and a private security employer license to the company. That system replaced the old merchant guard licenses on November 1, 2018.
In-house security counts too
Denver’s own FAQ says businesses with their own security staff, bars and restaurants included, cannot employ security guards until they hold a private security employer license. That widens who your competitors and your clients are.
Training only from Denver’s list
A Denver guard application needs a certificate of security guard training from a provider on the city’s eligible list. Armed work runs through a weapons endorsement on the employer’s license plus the required guard training.
Overtime after 12 hours, not just 40
Colorado’s COMPS Order pays time and a half over 40 hours a week, over 12 hours in a workday, or over 12 consecutive hours, whichever pays more. A 16-hour double on a short-staffed night is overtime in Colorado even in a light week.
Dispensaries and grow facilities
Licensed cannabis businesses buy a steady share of guard hours: door checks, cash escorts, camera rooms and closing rounds, with incident records that the business may need to show to regulators and insurers.
Ski towns and mountain resorts
Resort hotels, lodges and event weekends in the mountain towns make winter the peak season, with crews housed far from Denver and posts that need relief planned days in advance because of the drive.
Front Range: Denver to Colorado Springs
Downtown towers, the airport corridor, distribution centers along I-70 and I-25, hospitals, universities and the military community around Colorado Springs carry most of the year-round contract hours.

The accounts Colorado guard companies hold
Colorado questions, answered plainly
Does Colorado have a state security guard license? +
No. Colorado has no statewide license for security guards or guard companies, and its state private investigator licensing ended in 2021. Licensing is local: Denver requires a security guard license for each officer and a private security employer license for the company, and other cities set their own rules. Check with each city where you have a post.
How does Colorado overtime differ from federal overtime? +
Under the Colorado COMPS Order, non-exempt employees earn time and a half for work over 40 hours in a workweek, over 12 hours in a workday, or over 12 consecutive hours, whichever pays more. Federal law only has the weekly 40. Confirm details with the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment.
Does CGuardPro calculate Colorado’s 12-hour overtime automatically? +
No. CGuardPro tracks each officer’s hours against a weekly threshold and shows the length of every shift, so a scheduler can see a 12-hour-plus shift before publishing it. Applying Colorado’s daily and consecutive-hour rules is a payroll decision you or your payroll provider make.
We have posts in Denver, Aurora and the mountains. Can we track different city licenses? +
Yes. Each officer record can hold several credentials, each with its own number, issue and expiry dates and a photo of the card, and a daily check warns the office before any of them expires. It warns rather than blocks, and it does not check any city’s licensing records.
How is it priced? +
It is $5 per user per month, one plan with every feature, plus an optional one-time implementation package of $299.99. A user is anyone with a login, including client logins. There is a 7-day free trial.
