Security Guard Software
for Sacramento Companies
CGuardPro is security guard management software for Sacramento-area guard companies, from the Capitol and downtown to Roseville, Folsom, Elk Grove and West Sacramento: scheduling and relief coverage, GPS and selfie clock-in, QR or NFC guard tours, incident and daily activity reports and a client portal, in one web command center with guard, supervisor and client apps for iOS and Android. It costs $5 per user per month, with a 7-day free trial. Sacramento work is heavy on public buildings, hospitals and valley distribution, and California adds two things owners feel every week: BSIS training deadlines per guard and daily overtime.
What does guard work in Sacramento look like?
State government
The Capitol, the state office buildings around it and agency offices across the region make government and public-facing lobbies a large share of the work, with contracts that ask for clear reporting.
Downtown and the arena
Golden 1 Center and the blocks around it bring event nights, garages and retail on the same streets as office lobbies.
Hospital systems
UC Davis Medical Center and the region’s large hospital systems staff emergency departments, garages and campus patrols around the clock.
Valley distribution
Warehouses along I-5 and I-80, and on former bases like McClellan and Mather, need yard tours at night and gate logs for trucks.
Roseville and Folsom
Tech campuses, auto malls and shopping centers in the eastern suburbs mix daytime desks with overnight lot patrols.
Heat and long shifts
Summer heat on outdoor posts and twelve-hour shifts collide with California’s daily overtime, so the schedule decides the labor cost.
What does California require of a guard company in Sacramento?
Licensing is statewide, through the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services. The company holds a Private Patrol Operator license, each officer holds a security guard registration (the guard card), and an armed officer adds a firearms permit. According to the BSIS guard fact sheet, a guard must be at least 18, complete Power to Arrest training before the card is issued (now 8 hours including appropriate use of force), clear a Live Scan check and apply through BreEZe; once approved, the guard may work carrying the Bureau’s approval printout and photo ID.
The training clock keeps running after hire: 32 hours of security officer skills, 16 within 30 days and 16 within six months, then 8 hours of continuing training every year, with employers keeping the records for the duration of employment. Guard cards should be renewed at least 60 days before they expire. We have not found a separate City or County of Sacramento guard license; confirm with the city before you take a post on public property.
CGuardPro keeps each guard card, firearms permit and training certificate with its date and warns ahead of it; it does not check cards against BSIS. See our California page and the California guard card guide.

Sacramento Security Software Questions
Can a new guard start a Sacramento post before the card arrives?
Per BSIS, once the registration is approved the guard may work while carrying the printout of the Bureau’s approval and a photo ID. Power to Arrest training comes before issuance, so plan it into onboarding.
What training deadlines follow a California guard after hire?
Sixteen hours of skills training within 30 days, sixteen more within six months, and 8 hours of continuing training every year. Recording those dates per officer is what makes an audit easy.
How does daily overtime affect twelve-hour shifts in Sacramento?
California counts overtime by the day as well as the week, so a twelve-hour shift carries overtime and can reach double time. CGuardPro’s Gusto integration classifies approved hours as Regular, Overtime and Double overtime under California daily rules.
Does Sacramento require a separate city security license?
We have not found one; the BSIS guard card and PPO license are the credentials we verified. Public clients may write their own requirements into a contract, so read the solicitation.
Can a state-office client see our reports?
Yes. Each client gets a portal with its own sites only: patrols, incidents and daily activity reports, without access to anyone else’s data.
