Security Guard Software
for Indianapolis Companies
CGuardPro is security guard management software for companies running posts in Indianapolis and the surrounding counties, from downtown venues to the distribution buildings around the airport: scheduling and relief coverage, GPS and selfie clock-in, QR or NFC guard tours, incident and daily activity reports and a client portal, in one web command center with guard, supervisor and client apps for iOS and Android. It costs $5 per user per month, with a 7-day free trial. In Indiana the state licenses the agency, not each officer, so an Indianapolis company’s paperwork burden sits with the employer: hire records per officer and an agency license that renews every four years.
What does guard work in Indianapolis look like?
Race month at the Speedway
May turns the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the town of Speedway around it into a weeks-long event: gates, parking lots, campgrounds and nearby businesses all want coverage. That is a temporary roster layered over the regular schedule, filled and torn down on its own dates.
Downtown venues and conventions
Lucas Oil Stadium, Gainbridge Fieldhouse and the Indiana Convention Center sit within walking distance of each other, so one weekend can stack a game, a concert and a convention. Event posts need their own shifts and their own post orders.
Airport and cargo
The FedEx hub at Indianapolis International Airport anchors a ring of cargo, freight-forwarding and trucking operations on the southwest side. Night gate posts and trailer-yard rounds are the steady work here.
Plainfield and Whitestown warehouses
Big distribution buildings line I-70 west of the city and I-65 to the northwest. Yard patrols over a large lot need checkpoints the client can audit and a truck log at the guard shack.
Hospitals and life sciences
The downtown hospital campuses and the pharmaceutical and life-sciences campuses across the metro want access control, escorts and incident categories their own security teams recognize.
Suburban office parks
Carmel, Fishers and the north side are office parks and corporate campuses with lobby desks during the day and a single mobile patrol at night.
What does Indiana require of a guard company in Indianapolis?
The license belongs to the agency. Indiana’s Private Investigator and Security Guard Licensing Board, administered by the Professional Licensing Agency under IC 25-30-1.3, licenses security guard agencies through a qualifier who is at least 21 and has two years of experience (4,000 hours, and the board does not accept 1099 experience) or a related bachelor’s degree. The agency carries at least $100,000 of general liability with the State of Indiana as additional insured, and agency licenses expire every four years on October 1, with 2027 the next date.
Officers do not hold a state license of their own. The licensee may employ unlicensed persons, is civilly responsible for their conduct, and keeps a photo taken within 30 days of hire and fingerprints for each employee. We found no state-mandated unarmed training hours, and the licensing chapter does not itself authorize carrying a weapon, even though Indiana has had permitless handgun carry since July 2022. Indianapolis and some other Indiana cities run special police programs under state law that give certain security personnel added authority; we have not verified their current requirements, so confirm with the city before you rely on one.
CGuardPro keeps each credential your officers do hold, such as firearms qualifications, CPR or a client clearance, with its expiry date and warns ahead of it; it files nothing with the PLA. See our Indiana page for overtime and the Indiana licensing guide for the agency application.

Indianapolis Security Software Questions
Do security officers in Indianapolis need a state license?
Not an individual one. Indiana licenses the security guard agency, and the agency may employ unlicensed officers while staying civilly responsible for them. The agency keeps a photo taken within 30 days of hire and fingerprints for each employee.
When does an Indiana security agency license expire?
Every four years on October 1. The cycle runs 2023, 2027 and so on, so every agency in the state renews in the same year. Put the date on a shared calendar well ahead of time.
Does Indianapolis have its own security license?
We have not found a separate city guard license. Indianapolis does run special police programs under state law that give certain security personnel added authority, but we have not verified their current requirements. Ask the city directly before you staff a post that depends on one.
How do we staff race month without wrecking the regular schedule?
Build the Speedway and event shifts as their own roster and keep the weekly posts untouched; when someone calls off, the post shows as uncovered on the coverage board until it is filled. CGuardPro shows who is already scheduled, so an officer is not booked on a gate and a warehouse at the same time.
How do we prove a night patrol of a Plainfield warehouse yard?
Place QR codes or NFC tags along the fence, at dock doors and at the gate. Each scan is verified on the server with its time and position, the officer can add a photo or note, and a missed tour raises an alert.
