Indiana security guard software
for agencies licensed by the Indiana PLA board

CGuardPro is security guard management software for Indiana security guard agencies: scheduling and relief coverage, GPS and selfie clock-in, QR and NFC guard tours, incident reports, gatehouse logs, officer document and training records, and a client portal, with guard, supervisor and client apps for iOS and Android. It costs $5 per user per month with a 7-day free trial. Indiana licenses the agency and leaves vetting the guards to you, so the software keeps the records that prove it.

What running guards in Indiana actually involves

Indiana licenses the agency, not the guard

The Private Investigator and Security Guard Licensing Board, administered by the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency (PLA), licenses security guard agencies under IC 25-30-1.3. There is no state guard card and no state roster of licensed officers to check a hire against.

The qualifier carries the license

Each agency needs a qualifier at least 21 years old with two years of experience verified by at least 4,000 hours, or a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or a related field. The board does not accept 1099 experience: the years have to be documented as W-2 employment.

$100,000 in coverage, and the state as additional insured

The agency must carry general liability coverage of at least $100,000 that lists the State of Indiana as an additional insured. If the coverage lapses, the statute suspends the license, so a missed premium is a licensing problem, not only an insurance one.

Four-year renewal on October 1

Agency licenses expire every four years on October 1, on a fixed statewide cycle (2023, 2027 and so on). Whoever filed last time may not be with the company when the next renewal comes round.

You are civilly responsible for your guards

Agencies may employ unlicensed guards, and the licensee is civilly responsible for their good conduct. The statute also requires a photo of each employee taken within 30 days of hire and a full set of fingerprints, kept on file and produced if the board asks.

No state training hours, and no armed license

We found no state-mandated training hours for unarmed guards, and the agency chapter does not authorize anyone to carry a weapon. Since July 2022 Indiana has allowed permitless handgun carry for people legally allowed to possess one; who carries on a post is your policy, your client’s and your insurer’s.

The crossroads of logistics

Interstates meeting in Indianapolis, a major air cargo hub at the airport and warehouses along I-65 and I-70 make distribution one of the state’s biggest guard markets: gates, yards and docks around the clock.

Race weekends, steel and plants

Indianapolis’s motor speedway, stadiums and convention center bring event surges; Northwest Indiana’s steel mills, Elkhart’s RV plants and auto and life-science manufacturing elsewhere bring long-term industrial posts.

Indiana questions, answered plainly

Do security guards need a license in Indiana? +

Not individually. Indiana licenses the security guard agency through the PLA board, and the agency may employ unlicensed guards. In exchange the agency is civilly responsible for their conduct and must keep a recent photo and fingerprints for each one. CGuard Pro LLC has no role in licensing; the agency license stays yours.

If the state does not vet our guards, how do we show clients we do? +

With your own records. Each officer profile in CGuardPro holds documents such as IDs, background checks and training certificates with expiry dates, and a daily check warns the office before they expire. Shifts, patrols and incident reports build a history you can show a client, or the board, if an officer’s conduct is questioned.

When does an Indiana agency license expire? +

Every four years on October 1, on a fixed statewide cycle; the PLA gives 2023 and 2027 as examples. Keep the agency license and the insurance certificate in the system with their dates so a renewal does not depend on one person’s inbox.

How does overtime work for guards in Indiana? +

Indiana law, IC 22-2-2-4, requires time and a half after 40 hours in a workweek. CGuardPro tracks each officer’s hours against that weekly threshold so overtime is visible before you approve extra shifts on an event weekend.

How is it priced? +

It is $5 per user per month, one plan with every feature, plus an optional one-time implementation package of $299.99. A user is anyone with a login, including client logins. There is a 7-day free trial.
