Security Guard Software
for Chicago Companies

CGuardPro is security guard management software for companies running posts in Chicago and Cook County and the collar counties: scheduling and relief coverage, GPS and selfie clock-in, QR or NFC guard tours, incident and daily activity reports and a client portal, in one web command center with guard, supervisor and client apps for iOS and Android. It costs $5 per user per month, one plan with every feature, with a 7-day free trial. Chicago guard work centers on Loop and River North towers, rail and intermodal yards to the southwest, convention halls, hospitals and campuses, and outdoor patrols that have to keep going through the winter.

What does guard work in Chicago look like?

Loop and River North towers

Downtown office and residential towers run lobby desks, loading docks and after-hours rounds of mechanical floors. Post orders written per building keep the officer on that property’s rules for deliveries, contractors and badge-less visitors.

The rail and intermodal hub

Chicago is where the country’s railroads meet, and intermodal terminals and warehouses spread along I-55 and I-80 to the southwest. Yard patrols over large fenced ground need checkpoints the client can audit, and gate posts need a truck log.

Convention and show weeks

McCormick Place and the hotels around it bring trade-show weeks: booth security, overnight hall patrols and dock control for move-in and move-out. A roster built for the show and torn down after it is a scheduling job, not a permanent post.

Medical district and campuses

The Illinois Medical District on the Near West Side and university campuses across the city want rounds, escorts and incidents classified in a way their own security office recognizes.

Winter on outdoor posts

Parking lots, yards and construction sites still need patrols when it is below zero. Shorter outdoor tours with checkpoints at the right spots, and a pass-down that tells the next officer what froze or failed, keep the record honest.

Stadium and arena nights

Soldier Field, Wrigley Field and the United Center turn a single night into dozens of short shifts. Push-to-talk channels in the app keep the event team talking without renting handsets.

What CGuardPro gives a Chicago operation

License and certificate tracking

Each officer’s PERC, firearm control card and training dates on their profile, with an alert before anything expires.

Guard tours with proof

QR or NFC checkpoints across a rail yard or a parking deck; every scan verified on the server with time and position, and a missed tour raises an alert.

Visitor and vehicle logs

Truck entries and exits logged at the gate, with the plate read from a phone photo.

Scheduling and relief coverage

Show-week rosters built in the same screen as permanent posts, with uncovered shifts visible before they start.

Shift pass-down

The outgoing officer leaves notes for the next shift, read in the app at the start of the post.

Client portal

Property managers and facility directors follow patrols, incidents and reports for their own sites, and only theirs.

What does Illinois require of a guard company in Chicago?

Licensing is statewide, through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation under 225 ILCS 447. Employees of a licensed agency apply for a permanent employee registration card (PERC); guarding employees complete a minimum of 20 hours of basic training within 30 days of employment, 8 more hours within six months and an 8-hour refresher each calendar year after their first anniversary. Armed officers also need a firearm control card. These are state credentials, the same in Chicago as in Springfield.

Illinois also has a One Day Rest in Seven Act, which matters when officers stack shifts during a show week. Our Illinois page covers it with the overtime rule.

CGuardPro does not register anyone with IDFPR. It keeps PERCs and training certificates on each profile and shows who worked which post and when. Detail in our Illinois license guide.

Chicago Security Software Questions

Can we keep PERC and training records for every Chicago officer in one place?

Yes. Each officer’s profile holds their PERC, firearm control card if armed, and training dates, with alerts before expiry. The alert warns; it does not stop you from scheduling, so your manager decides.

How do we staff a McCormick Place show week without breaking our regular schedule?

Build the show as its own posts with their own dates, fill them from the same pool of officers and watch for conflicts with permanent posts on the same board. When the show ends, the posts stop and the history stays.

Do outdoor patrols work when phones struggle in the cold?

Checkpoint scans are quick, and incidents, visitor entries and tour start and finish queue on the phone if the signal drops, syncing when it returns. Clock-in needs a live connection. Cold drains batteries, so plan where the officer charges between rounds.

Can a rail yard client audit our overnight patrols?

Yes. Each checkpoint scan is verified by the server with time and position, with optional photo or note, and the client reads the tour history in the portal. A tour that is not completed raises an alert to your team.

Does CGuardPro track rest days for the Illinois seven-day rule?

The schedule shows every shift an officer works across the week, so a supervisor can see who has not had a rest day before assigning another shift. It does not enforce the rule automatically; that decision stays with your scheduler.
