Security Guard Software
for Charleston Companies
CGuardPro is security guard management software for companies running posts in Charleston, North Charleston, Mount Pleasant and Summerville: scheduling and relief coverage, GPS and selfie clock-in, QR or NFC guard tours, incident and daily activity reports and a client portal, in one web command center with guard, supervisor and client apps for iOS and Android. It costs $5 per user per month, one plan with every feature, with a 7-day free trial. Charleston mixes container terminals and large aircraft and auto plants with historic-district hotels and gated island communities, every officer registers with SLED each year, and hurricane season shapes the calendar.
What does guard work in Charleston look like?
Container terminals
The port’s terminals at Wando Welch, Leatherman and North Charleston, and the warehouses that feed off them, want gate logs with truck plates and fence-line tours the terminal operator can audit.
Aircraft and auto plants
Aircraft assembly in North Charleston and auto manufacturing in Berkeley County mean big industrial sites with contractor traffic at every shift change and gates that need a record.
Historic-district hotels
Hotels and inns downtown run lobby, garage and after-hours posts for guests who are out late on King Street. Incidents with photos keep the hotel’s manager informed without a call.
Gated islands and HOAs
Kiawah, Isle of Palms, Mount Pleasant and Daniel Island communities run gatehouses with guest lists and rover patrols. Residents pre-authorizing guests saves the gate officer a phone call.
The medical district
MUSC and the hospitals on the peninsula want garage rounds, escorts and emergency department posts.
Hurricane season
From June to November, storms bring extra rounds before landfall, evacuations that empty the roster and damage reports afterward. A schedule that shows who is still available, and photos filed from the phone, carry the client through it.
What CGuardPro gives a Charleston operation
License and certificate tracking
Each officer’s SLED registration, basic course and weapons permit dates on the profile, with alerts before the annual renewal.
Visitor and vehicle logs
Truck, contractor and guest entries at terminal and community gates, with plates read from a phone photo.
Visitor pre-authorization
Residents approve guests from the client app; the gate officer scans the QR code on arrival.
Guard tours with proof
QR or NFC checkpoints along fences and around plant buildings, each scan verified with time and position.
Incident reports with photos
Storm damage and incidents filed with photos, visible to the client in the portal.
Call-off coverage
Call-offs and evacuations show as uncovered shifts right away, so you can reassign or extend.

What does South Carolina require of a guard company in Charleston?
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED), Regulatory Services, licenses contract and proprietary security businesses; a contract licensee posts a $10,000 surety bond and employs or retains a SLED-certified private security training officer. Each officer holds a SLED registration, completes a basic course of at least four hours before working at a client site, and may work up to 30 days after SLED receives the application, without arrest authority or a firearm. The company notifies SLED within 10 days of a hire or termination. Licenses, registrations and weapons permits all renew every year.
We have not found a separate City of Charleston or North Charleston security guard license; confirm with the city, since business licenses are local. South Carolina has no state overtime statute, so the federal 40-hour weekly rule applies.
CGuardPro does not file with SLED. It keeps each registration, course and permit date on the officer profile and warns before they lapse. See our South Carolina page and the South Carolina licensing guide. This is a summary, not legal advice.
Charleston Security Software Questions
How do we keep track of SLED’s 10-day hire and termination notices?
Record the hire or termination date on the officer profile and add the notice as a dated task for the office. CGuardPro does not notify SLED for you; it keeps the date in front of the person who does.
Can a new hire work before the SLED registration arrives?
SLED allows up to 30 days after it receives the application, without arrest authority or a firearm, once the basic course is done. Store the application date on the profile so the 30 days are visible to the scheduler.
Does Charleston have its own security guard license?
We have not found a separate City of Charleston or North Charleston guard license; SLED registers officers statewide. Confirm with the city, since business licensing is local.
How do gated communities handle guests with CGuardPro?
Residents with a client login pre-authorize guests and send a QR code; the gate officer scans it and the entry goes into the visitor log. Other guests are logged at the gate with the plate read from a photo.
What do we do when a hurricane forces an evacuation?
Uncovered shifts appear as officers leave, so you see which posts still have someone. Before the storm, schedule extra tours; after it, officers file incidents with photos of damage for the client.
