Missouri security guard software
for companies licensed city by city in KC and St. Louis

CGuardPro is security guard management software for Missouri security companies: scheduling and relief coverage, GPS and selfie clock-in, QR and NFC guard tours, incident reports, post orders, city license tracking and a client portal, with guard, supervisor and client apps for iOS and Android. It costs $5 per user per month with a 7-day free trial. Missouri has no statewide guard license, and Kansas City and St. Louis license through their police departments, so the software keeps the records; the licenses stay yours.

What running guards in Missouri actually involves

No state license, two serious city programs

Missouri has no statewide security guard or company license. Kansas City and St. Louis license private security through their police departments, with company licenses, officer licenses, insurance and yearly renewals. Everywhere else, check the city.

Kansas City: the Private Officers Licensing Unit

Under 17 CSR 10-2, the Kansas City Board of Police Commissioners, through KCPD’s Private Officers Licensing Unit, requires a company license on top of individual licenses and a $1 million liability insurance certificate naming the board.

January 31 decides who can work in KC

A Kansas City company pays its annual company fee by January 31. Miss it and the company license expires, and every officer license under it goes inactive at once. Individual licenses expire one year from issue, with fingerprints at each renewal.

Armed in Kansas City: four hours every year

Kansas City armed licensees must be at least 21, qualify annually with their weapon, requalify if they change weapons and complete four hours of handgun training each year at the KCPD range. Unarmed applicants must be 18 and pass the board’s written exam.

St. Louis: watchman, courier or security officer

The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department’s Private Security Section licenses three categories for one year at a time. A new agency needs two years in the field, $1 million of liability insurance and approved uniforms that do not resemble police.

An officer licensed in KC is not licensed in St. Louis

The two programs are separate departments with separate rules and cycles, and St. Louis County is confirmed separately from the city. A company working both metros tracks two sets of licenses per officer, each with its own date.

Rail, river and interstate logistics

Kansas City’s rail and intermodal yards, St. Louis’s Mississippi River terminals and the distribution centers along I-70 and I-44 put officers on large yards and gates where a timestamped tour round is the only proof anyone can show.

Hospitals, campuses, stadiums and dispensaries

Major medical centers, university campuses, stadium and convention events in both big metros, and licensed cannabis dispensaries since adult use was legalized in 2022, each with its own post orders and incident expectations.

Missouri questions, answered plainly

Is there a Missouri state security guard license? +

No. Missouri has no statewide license for security companies or officers. Kansas City licenses them through the KCPD Private Officers Licensing Unit under 17 CSR 10-2, and the City of St. Louis through the SLMPD Private Security Section. Elsewhere, ask each city’s licensing office before you staff a post.

Can CGuardPro track a Kansas City license and a St. Louis license for the same officer? +

Yes. An officer record holds as many credentials as you need, each with its own type, number, dates and photo, and a daily check warns the office before each one expires, on a window from 7 to 120 days. It warns rather than blocks, and it does not check either police department’s records.

What happens to our roster if the Kansas City company fee is late? +

Under 17 CSR 10-2, a company that misses the January 31 fee lets its license expire, and every officer license under it becomes inactive. Store the company license with its date in CGuardPro so the office gets a warning well before the deadline.

How does Missouri handle overtime for guards? +

Section 290.505 of the Revised Statutes of Missouri requires time and a half for hours over 40 in a workweek; there is no daily overtime rule. CGuardPro totals hours against a weekly threshold so you see overtime coming while you schedule, and approved hours can go to Gusto as time sheets.

What does it cost? +

It is $5 per user per month, one plan with every feature, plus an optional one-time implementation package of $299.99. A user is anyone with a login, including client logins. There is a 7-day free trial.
