Louisiana security guard software
for companies licensed by the LSBPSE

CGuardPro is security guard management software for Louisiana contract security companies: scheduling and relief coverage, GPS and selfie clock-in, QR and NFC guard tours, fire watch, incident reports, gate and visitor logs, registration and training tracking and a client portal, with guard, supervisor and client apps for iOS and Android. It costs $5 per user per month with a 7-day free trial. Licensing runs through the Louisiana State Board of Private Security Examiners; the software keeps the records behind it.

What running guards in Louisiana actually involves

A board that does only private security

The Louisiana State Board of Private Security Examiners licenses contract security companies and registers every officer they employ. Questions about training, cards and company status all go to the same specialized board.

Sixteen hours before the first shift

New officers now complete 16 hours of Security Officer Standards and Training, S.O.S.T. 1101 and 1102, before their first work assignment, under Act 683 of 2026. The old allowance to train within 30 and 60 days of starting is gone, so hiring lead time just got longer.

Three years’ experience and $500,000 of coverage

A company license needs three consecutive years of contract security or law enforcement experience behind it, and general liability insurance of at least $500,000 with the State of Louisiana named as an additional insured.

Armed: 80% on the range, every year

Armed officers finish board-prescribed firearms training and qualify with at least 80% on an approved silhouette course before any armed assignment, then repeat a firearms retraining course every year.

Two-year cards, now digital

Officer registrations are valid for two years, with the expiration date on the card, and the 2026 law allows the board to issue digital credentials. Officers who move from unarmed to armed file a status change first.

Plants and terminals along the river

Refineries, petrochemical plants and port terminals between Baton Rouge and New Orleans put officers on gates, contractor badging and fence lines where every entry and every round has to be on record.

Festivals, casinos and hurricane season

Mardi Gras and the festival calendar, casino resorts from Lake Charles to Shreveport-Bossier, and storms that close posts overnight make Louisiana rosters change faster than most.

Weekly overtime, federal rules

Louisiana follows federal overtime: time and a half after 40 hours in a workweek, no daily rule, and the Louisiana Workforce Commission has no enforcement role. Festival weeks are when the totals climb.

Louisiana questions, answered plainly

How much training does a Louisiana security officer need before working? +

Sixteen hours of Security Officer Standards and Training, S.O.S.T. 1101 and 1102, before the first work assignment, with an exam for each course, under Act 683 of 2026 and the board’s current guidance. Officers registered in states with similar rules and some law enforcement officers may qualify for a four-hour path. Confirm your case with the LSBPSE.

What insurance does a Louisiana security company need? +

The LSBPSE asks for general liability insurance of at least $500,000 with the State of Louisiana named as an additional insured, with coverage that includes hiring, training and retention, errors and omissions, firearms, and care, custody and control. Confirm current requirements with the board before you bind a policy.

Can we track annual firearms retraining for armed officers? +

Yes. Log the retraining and range qualification on each officer’s training record and the registration card on the credential record, each with its date. Expiry alerts warn the office on a window you choose, from 7 to 120 days ahead. They warn rather than block, and CGuardPro does not check the board’s records.

A hurricane is coming. How do we run the posts? +

Close the posts that close, message officers by post group and use the schedule to see which posts are still uncovered and who can relieve them. Incident reports, visitor entries and tour start and finish queue on the phone if the network drops and sync when it returns; clock-in needs a live connection.

Does CGuardPro handle Louisiana overtime? +

Louisiana follows the federal 40-hour workweek with no daily overtime, and CGuardPro tracks hours against a weekly threshold. Approved hours go to Gusto as time sheets or export as CSV, Excel or PDF. It costs $5 per user per month with a 7-day free trial.

See it against your own Louisiana roster

Bring one site and one week of posts, a plant gate or a festival weekend, and we will set it up the way you run it.
