Security Guard Software
for Hampton Roads Companies

CGuardPro is security guard management software for companies running posts in Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Newport News, Chesapeake and the rest of Hampton Roads: scheduling and relief coverage, GPS and selfie clock-in, QR or NFC guard tours, incident and daily activity reports and a client portal, in one web command center with guard, supervisor and client apps for iOS and Android. It costs $5 per user per month, one plan with every feature, with a 7-day free trial. This is a harbor metro: container terminals, a shipyard and military installations on both shores, an oceanfront hotel strip, and bridge-tunnels that make every relief run longer than the map suggests.

What does guard work in Hampton Roads look like?

Port terminals on both shores

The Port of Virginia’s container and marine terminals in Norfolk, Portsmouth and Newport News, and the warehouses that feed off them, want gate logs with truck plates, fence-line tours and incident reports that hold up for the terminal operator.

Shipbuilding and ship repair

The shipyard in Newport News and the repair yards along the Elizabeth River run large industrial sites with contractors coming and going at shift change. Visitor and vehicle logs at the gate show who was on site and when.

Around the military installations

Naval Station Norfolk, Naval Air Station Oceana and Joint Base Langley-Eustis keep a ring of contractor offices, warehouses and housing nearby. Who enters an installation is the installation’s decision; the guard company’s job is a clean record of its own posts.

The Oceanfront in season

Virginia Beach hotels and condominiums along the Oceanfront fill up in summer. Lobby, pool-deck and parking posts grow from Memorial Day to Labor Day and shrink after, so the roster has to flex with the season.

Relief through the tunnels

A relief officer crossing the harbor at shift change can lose an hour in bridge-tunnel traffic. Seeing uncovered shifts early, and who is closest, matters more here than in most metros.

Storm and flood season

Low-lying sites flood in nor’easters and hurricanes. Extra rounds before a storm, photos of water and damage after it, and a pass-down to the next shift build the record the property manager and insurer will ask for.

What CGuardPro gives a Hampton Roads operation

Call-off coverage

When an officer calls off, the post shows as uncovered and you can send relief from the same side of the harbor instead of through a tunnel.

Live GPS on the map

Officers on duty on a live map, so dispatch knows who is nearest to a post before sending relief.

Visitor and vehicle logs

Truck and contractor entries at terminals and yards, with plates read from a phone photo.

Guard tours with proof

QR or NFC checkpoints along fence lines and docks, each scan verified with time and position.

Incident reports with photos

Storm damage, flooding and incidents filed from the phone with photos, ready for the client and the insurer.

License and certificate tracking

DCJS registrations and training dates per officer, with an alert before each lapses.

Who licenses security officers in Hampton Roads?

The Commonwealth does. Virginia’s Department of Criminal Justice Services licenses the company (with one compliance agent and at least $1,000,000 of general aggregate liability insurance) and registers each officer. Unarmed officers complete 18 hours of entry-level training and 4 hours of in-service training, and may work 90 consecutive days while completing training if their fingerprints were submitted by the hire date. Armed officers complete 50 hours and retrain each year. Registrations run two years.

We have not found a separate Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Newport News or Chesapeake security guard license; confirm with each city where you put a post, since business licensing is local. Access to military installations and port terminals is set by those facilities, not by DCJS. Overtime follows the Virginia Overtime Wage Act, time and a half over 40 hours in a workweek.

CGuardPro files nothing with DCJS or any facility. It keeps each officer’s credentials and dates on the profile and warns before they lapse. See our Virginia page and the guide to starting a security company in Virginia. This is a summary, not legal advice.

Hampton Roads Security Software Questions

How do we cover a call-off on the other side of the harbor?

The uncovered shift shows on the schedule as soon as the officer calls off. Check the live map for who is already on that side, then send relief, extend the officer on duty or move someone from a nearby post.

Does Virginia Beach or Norfolk license security guards separately?

We have not found a separate city guard license in Hampton Roads; DCJS registers officers statewide. Confirm with each city, since business licenses are local.

Can CGuardPro handle base or terminal access credentials?

It can store any credential on an officer’s profile with its number and expiry date, and warn before it lapses. It does not issue, request or verify access with any installation or terminal; that stays between you and the facility.

How do we document a site before and after a hurricane?

Schedule extra tours before the storm, have officers file incidents with photos of water and damage, and leave a pass-down note for the next shift. The client sees those reports in the portal for their property.

Our Oceanfront posts grow every summer. How do we plan that?

Add the seasonal shifts to the schedule ahead of time and see which are still uncovered. When the season ends, remove them; the history stays on the post for the next year’s planning.
