Georgia security guard software
for agencies licensed through the Secretary of State

CGuardPro is security guard management software for Georgia security agencies: scheduling and relief coverage, GPS and selfie clock-in, QR and NFC guard tours, incident reports, gate and visitor logs, registration and weapon permit tracking and a client portal, with guard, supervisor and client apps for iOS and Android. It costs $5 per user per month with a 7-day free trial. Licensing runs through the State Board of Private Detective and Security Agencies; the software keeps the records behind it.

What running guards in Georgia actually involves

The Secretary of State, not the state police

Georgia licenses security agencies through the State Board of Private Detective and Security Agencies, one of the professional boards run by the Secretary of State. Applications and renewals go through the Secretary of State’s online licensing portal.

Odd years carry the deadlines

Under Rule 509-2-.01, every company license expires on June 30 of each odd-numbered year, and employee registrations and weapon permits on August 31 of the same years. Two statewide deadlines, two months apart, every other summer.

Twenty-four hours of classroom training

Since January 1, 2022, Rule 509-3-.02 sets a minimum of 24 classroom hours of basic training for security officers: legal aspects, patrol and observation, incident response. That is three working days before a new hire is ready for a post.

Armed means a weapon permit and 15 more hours

Armed officers need a board weapon permit on top of the basic course, with at least 15 hours of handgun instruction and an 80% passing score on the written and range tests (Rule 509-3-.10), and they requalify every year.

Eight hours before each renewal

Registered security employees must complete eight hours of continuing education before renewing, including homeland security and firearms-related topics (Rule 509-3-.12). Tracking it per officer is easier than finding out in August.

Atlanta’s airport, warehouses and offices

Metro Atlanta combines one of the world’s busiest passenger airports with a ring of distribution centers and a dense office market, so rosters mix 24/7 logistics yards with lobby posts that close at night.

Savannah and the freight corridor

The Port of Savannah and the warehouses along I-16 and I-95 put officers on gates and yards where trucks never stop. A gate log with plates and times is the record that settles disputes.

Film sets, campuses and stadium weekends

Production lots, university campuses in Athens and Atlanta, and big-event weekends bring short deployments and rosters that change by the day, with call-offs that need a relief officer fast.

Georgia questions, answered plainly

When do Georgia security licenses expire? +

Under Georgia Rule 509-2-.01, private detective and security company licenses expire on June 30 of each odd-numbered year, and employee registrations and weapon permits on August 31 of each odd-numbered year. Renewals go through the Secretary of State’s licensing portal; confirm current dates and fees with the board.

Do unarmed officers in Georgia register with the board? +

The board’s guidance has said unarmed officers do not register with it but must still be trained to its standards, which means the 24-hour basic course in Rule 509-3-.02. Armed officers do register and need a weapon permit. Confirm the current position with the State Board of Private Detective and Security Agencies before you staff.

Can we track continuing education and weapon permits in one place? +

Yes. Each officer record holds credentials with issue and expiry dates and a photo of the card, and training records hold courses and hours. Expiry alerts warn the office on a window you choose, from 7 to 120 days ahead. They warn rather than block, and CGuardPro does not check the state’s records for you.

How do we cover a distribution yard that runs all night? +

Assign the post, set QR or NFC checkpoints along the fence and dock, and the office is alerted when a tour is missed. A geofence on the post alerts when an officer leaves it during a shift, and gate entries record trucks with a plate photo.

Does Georgia have daily overtime? +

No. Georgia follows the federal Fair Labor Standards Act: time and a half after 40 hours in a workweek. CGuardPro tracks hours against a weekly threshold and can send approved hours to Gusto or export them as CSV, Excel or PDF. It costs $5 per user per month with a 7-day free trial.

Bring one site and one week of posts, a distribution yard or an office tower, and we will set it up the way you run it.
