Security Guard Software
for Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky
CGuardPro is security guard management software for companies with posts in Cincinnati and across the river in Northern Kentucky: scheduling and relief coverage, GPS and selfie clock-in, QR or NFC guard tours, incident and daily activity reports and a client portal, in one web command center with guard, supervisor and client apps for iOS and Android. It costs $5 per user per month, with a 7-day free trial. The metro is two states with two different systems: Ohio registers every officer with the state, while Kentucky has no statewide guard license, and the region’s airport and its cargo hubs are on the Kentucky side.
What does guard work around Cincinnati look like?
Air cargo at CVG
The Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport sits in Hebron, Kentucky, and its air cargo hubs pull in warehouses and trucking yards across Boone County. Gate posts and trailer-yard rounds run all night.
The riverfront
Paycor Stadium, Great American Ball Park and The Banks between them bring game-day perimeter and parking posts, with Covington and Newport just across the bridges.
Corporate towers downtown
Consumer-goods, banking and retail headquarters keep lobby desks, executive floors and loading docks staffed in the central business district.
Medical campuses
Cincinnati Children’s and the University of Cincinnati medical campus in Clifton and Avondale need escorts, garage rounds and incident categories their security leaders already use.
The I-75 corridor
Distribution and manufacturing run north toward Dayton and south through Florence, so a single company may cover posts in two states on the same highway.
Two states, one roster
An officer who lives in Kentucky and works an Ohio post, or the reverse, shows up on one schedule with the credentials each side needs.
Who licenses security officers on each side of the river?
In Ohio, the state does, through Ohio Homeland Security’s PISGS unit under ORC Chapter 4749. A guard company holds a Class C or Class A license through a qualifying agent with two continuous years of experience, renews it by March 1 every year, and registers each employee three to seven calendar days after hire; registrations expire annually on their anniversary. Officers carrying a firearm need 20 hours of handgun training and a requalification within the previous twelve months.
In Kentucky, there is no statewide license for security guard companies or unarmed officers; KRS Chapter 329A licenses private investigators only. Louisville Metro regulates armed security in Jefferson County, but that ordinance does not reach Boone, Kenton or Campbell counties. We have not found a separate guard license in Covington or the other Northern Kentucky cities; confirm with the city before you staff a post there. Kentucky also pays time and a half for hours on the seventh day when an employee works all seven days of a workweek, a rule CGuardPro does not apply for you, so keep an eye on seven-day stretches on Kentucky posts.
CGuardPro holds the Ohio registration, firearms requalification and any client clearance on each officer profile with its expiry date and warns ahead of it; it files nothing with either state. See our Ohio and Kentucky pages, and the Ohio and Kentucky licensing guides.

Cincinnati Security Software Questions
Does an Ohio registration cover a post in Covington or Florence?
Ohio’s registration is an Ohio credential. Kentucky has no statewide guard license, so on the Kentucky side the question is what the city, the county and the client ask for. We have not found a separate Northern Kentucky city license; confirm with the city.
Do Louisville’s armed security rules apply in Northern Kentucky?
No. Louisville Metro’s armed security ordinance covers Jefferson County. Boone, Kenton and Campbell counties are outside it. Ask the local government about any rules of its own.
What is Kentucky’s seventh-day overtime rule?
Under KRS 337.050, an employee who works seven days in one workweek earns time and a half for the hours on the seventh day, unless they are not permitted to work more than 40 hours that week. CGuardPro tracks hours against a weekly threshold and does not apply the seventh-day premium automatically.
Can one officer work posts in both states?
Yes. The officer has one profile with every credential and its expiry date, and appears on one schedule. You decide who works where; CGuardPro warns about lapsing credentials but does not block a shift.
How do we log trucks at a cargo yard near CVG?
The officer logs each entry in the guard app, and the plate is read from a phone photo. The client sees the entries in its portal, and the log stays with the post’s history.
