Security Guard Software
for Buffalo Companies
CGuardPro is security guard management software for companies running posts in Buffalo, Erie County and Niagara County: scheduling and relief coverage, GPS and selfie clock-in, QR or NFC guard tours, incident and daily activity reports and a client portal, in one web command center with guard, supervisor and client apps for iOS and Android. It costs $5 per user per month, one plan with every feature, with a 7-day free trial. Buffalo’s posts run from the downtown medical campus to freight yards near the Canadian border crossings and Bills and Sabres game days, all under New York’s state training schedule and through lake-effect snow.
What does guard work in Buffalo look like?
The downtown medical campus
The Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus packs hospitals, a cancer center and research buildings into a few blocks. Garage rounds, emergency department posts and escorts run all night, and incidents need categories the hospitals recognize.
Freight near the border
Trucks crossing at the Peace Bridge and the Niagara River bridges feed warehouses and brokers’ yards on the U.S. side. Gate logs with plates and night tours of trailer lots are the core of that work.
Game days
Bills games in Orchard Park and Sabres games at KeyBank Center turn one day into dozens of short shifts for parking, gates and nearby properties, with weather that can change the plan by kickoff.
Lake-effect snow
A storm can close roads for a day and strand the relief officer at home. Seeing which shifts are uncovered early, and extending the officer already on site with a record of it, keeps posts staffed.
Campuses and Canalside
University at Buffalo campuses and summer events at Canalside add patrols, escorts and event rosters.
Niagara Falls tourism
Hotels and attractions on the U.S. side of the falls need lobby, parking and grounds posts that grow in summer.
What CGuardPro gives a Buffalo operation
Call-off coverage
Uncovered shifts show the moment a storm keeps an officer home, so you can extend, reassign or send relief.
License and certificate tracking
Each officer’s registration, 16-hour on-the-job training and annual in-service dates, with alerts before they lapse.
Visitor and vehicle logs
Truck entries at border-area yards with the plate read from a phone photo.
Guard tours with proof
QR or NFC checkpoints in hospital garages and trailer lots, each scan verified with time and position.
Shift pass-down
A written handover between shifts, so the next officer knows what the storm closed and what the client was told.
Incident reports with photos
Incidents with photos and a category, visible to the client in the portal.

What does New York require of a guard company in Buffalo?
Licensing is statewide. The New York Department of State’s Division of Licensing Services issues the Watch, Guard or Patrol Agency license, which runs two years, and each officer’s security guard registration. Training follows the state schedule: an 8-hour pre-assignment course, 16 hours of on-the-job training within 90 days of employment and an 8-hour annual in-service course. Armed officers add a 47-hour firearms course (with a New York pistol permit) and 8 hours of firearms training each year.
We have not found a separate City of Buffalo or Erie County security guard license; confirm with the city before you open a post. New York overtime starts after 40 hours in a workweek, which a storm week of extended shifts reaches quickly.
CGuardPro does not file with the Department of State. It holds each registration and training date on the officer profile and warns before they lapse. See our New York State page and the New York guard license guide. This is a summary, not legal advice.
Buffalo Security Software Questions
What happens to the schedule when a lake-effect storm hits?
Every call-off shows as an uncovered shift right away. You can extend the officer on site, move someone who lives closer or send relief when roads open, and each change stays on the schedule history for the client.
How do we track New York’s 90-day on-the-job training for new hires?
Add the 16-hour on-the-job training as a credential with its due date on the officer profile. CGuardPro warns before the date, and does the same for the annual in-service course.
Does Buffalo have its own guard license?
We have not found a separate City of Buffalo or Erie County guard license; the Department of State registers officers statewide. Confirm with the city, since local business rules still apply.
Can a freight yard client see the trucks logged overnight?
Yes. Entries with plates go into the vehicle log, and the client login shows that log, the tours and the incidents for that yard only.
How do we handle game-day staffing in Orchard Park?
Create the game-day posts with their own shifts and post orders, assign officers next to the weekly roster and use push-to-talk in the app to keep the team on one channel.
