Security Guard Software
for Boston Companies
CGuardPro is security guard management software for companies running posts in Boston, Cambridge and Greater Boston: scheduling and relief coverage, GPS and selfie clock-in, QR or NFC guard tours, incident and daily activity reports and a client portal, in one web command center with guard, supervisor and client apps for iOS and Android. It costs $5 per user per month, one plan with every feature, with a 7-day free trial. Boston guard work is shaped by hospitals in the Longwood Medical Area, universities, life-science buildings in Kendall Square and the Seaport, Back Bay and Financial District towers, and winter storms that test every relief plan.
What does guard work in Boston look like?
The Longwood Medical Area
Hospitals packed into a few blocks run emergency department posts, patient watches, escorts and garage patrols. Incidents filed with photos and a category reach the hospital’s security office without a phone call.
Universities on both sides of the river
Campuses in Boston and Cambridge want residence hall desks, building checks at night and escorts, with a record the university’s public safety office can read.
Labs in Kendall and the Seaport
Life-science buildings run tight visitor control for vendors and contractors and after-hours rounds of lab floors. Post orders per building tell the officer which doors and freezers matter.
Back Bay and downtown towers
Office and residential towers need lobby desks, dock control and visitor logs the property manager can read in the client portal.
Snow days
A nor’easter makes relief officers late and outdoor rounds slower. Uncovered posts show before the shift starts, and the officer on duty can be asked to stay, on the record.
Fenway and the Garden
Baseball at Fenway and hockey and basketball at TD Garden bring short, dense event rosters with push-to-talk channels in the app instead of rented radios.

What does Massachusetts require of a guard company in Boston?
The license is the company’s. The Massachusetts State Police Certification Unit licenses watch, guard or patrol agencies under M.G.L. chapter 147; the license runs for one year and is renewed annually, with a $5,000 surety bond. There is no statewide license for individual unarmed officers, but section 28 requires a sworn statement from each employee before they start work, kept by the licensee and produced to the State Police on request.
Armed officers need a license to carry from the local licensing authority. Overtime is weekly, over 40 hours, with no daily rule. See our Massachusetts page.
CGuardPro does not license anyone. It can hold each employee’s documents on their profile, with dates and alerts, and the record of who worked which post and when. More in the Massachusetts license guide.
Boston Security Software Questions
Can we keep each employee’s sworn statement in CGuardPro?
You can attach documents to each officer’s profile and track their dates, so the statement is easy to find when the State Police ask. The legal duty to collect and keep it stays with your company.
How do hospital clients in Longwood see incidents?
Give the hospital’s security director a client login. They see incidents, patrols and reports for their own buildings, with photos, and only theirs.
What happens to our schedule when a nor’easter hits?
Call-offs turn posts uncovered on the board before the shift starts. The supervisor sends relief, asks the officer on duty to extend, or moves someone from another site, and each decision stays on the record.
Can lab buildings control vendor and contractor visits?
Yes. The officer logs each visitor with name, host and time; tenants can pre-authorize guests from the client app and send a QR code the officer scans.
Do campus night checks leave proof?
Put QR codes or NFC tags at each building door. Every scan is verified on the server with time and position, the officer can add a photo, and a check that is not completed raises an alert.
