Massachusetts security guard software
for watch, guard or patrol agencies
CGuardPro is security guard management software for Massachusetts watch, guard or patrol agencies: scheduling and relief coverage, GPS and selfie clock-in, QR and NFC guard tours, visitor logs, shift pass-down, incident reports and an officer file for sworn statements and licenses, with guard, supervisor and client apps for iOS and Android. It costs $5 per user per month with a 7-day free trial. The agency license comes from the State Police Certification Unit; the software keeps the records the agency is expected to hold.
What running guards in Massachusetts actually involves
A watch, guard or patrol agency license
Massachusetts does not call it a security company license. Under Chapter 147 of the General Laws, a guard company holds a license to run a watch, guard or patrol agency, issued by the State Police Certification Unit.
Renewed every single year
The agency license is a one-year license, renewed annually, with a $5,000 surety bond that has to stay in force the whole time and three references who have known the applicant for at least three years.
No state guard card, but a sworn statement
There is no statewide license for individual unarmed officers. Instead, section 28 requires every employee to sign a sworn statement before starting work, which the agency keeps and must produce if the State Police ask.
Armed work goes through the town
Carrying a firearm requires a license to carry, issued through local licensing authorities rather than the Certification Unit, so armed staffing depends on each officer’s own local license.
Hospitals and the Longwood campuses
Boston’s teaching hospitals and the health systems across the state are some of the largest guard accounts in New England: emergency departments, parking garages and patient-watch posts staffed around the clock.
Universities and labs
Universities in Boston, Cambridge and Worcester, and the life-science labs around them, want access control, visitor records and patrols that prove every floor was checked overnight.
Airport, port and the Seaport
Logan Airport, the port and the office and hotel towers of the Seaport put officers on loading docks, garages and lobbies where vehicles and visitors need a record.
Weekly overtime, no daily rule
Massachusetts requires time and a half after 40 hours in a workweek, and the state says outright that it does not require overtime after 8 hours in a day.

The accounts Massachusetts guard companies hold
Massachusetts questions, answered plainly
Do Massachusetts security officers need a state license? +
Not for unarmed work. The state licenses the watch, guard or patrol agency through the State Police Certification Unit, and section 28 of Chapter 147 requires each employee to sign a sworn statement before starting work. Armed officers need a license to carry from their local licensing authority. Confirm current rules with the Certification Unit.
How often does a Massachusetts agency license renew? +
Every year. Section 25 of Chapter 147 makes it a one-year license that may be renewed annually, and the $5,000 surety bond required by section 26 must stay active for as long as you are licensed.
Can we keep each officer’s sworn statement in CGuardPro? +
Yes. Documents can be stored on the officer record, alongside any license to carry or training certificate with its expiry date, and the office is warned before a dated document expires. The agency still owns the file and its accuracy; CGuardPro does not submit anything to the State Police.
Does Massachusetts have daily overtime? +
No. Massachusetts requires time and a half after 40 hours in a workweek and does not require overtime after 8 hours in a day. CGuardPro tracks each officer’s hours against the weekly threshold across every post, and approved hours can go to Gusto as time sheets.
How is it priced? +
It is $5 per user per month, one plan with every feature, plus an optional one-time implementation package of $299.99. A user is anyone with a login, including client logins. There is a 7-day free trial.
