Alabama security guard software
for contract companies licensed by the ASRB
CGuardPro is security guard management software for Alabama contract security companies: scheduling and relief coverage, GPS and selfie clock-in, QR and NFC guard tours, incident reports, gate and visitor logs, officer license tracking and a client portal, with guard, supervisor and client apps for iOS and Android. It costs $5 per user per month with a 7-day free trial. Licensing runs through the Alabama Security Regulatory Board; the software keeps the records behind it.
What running guards in Alabama actually involves
One board, and no city license on top
The Alabama Security Regulatory Board licenses contract security companies and their officers under Title 34, Chapter 27C. Section 34-27C-18 bars cities and counties from adding their own guard licensing, so Birmingham and Mobile posts run on the same state rules (local business taxes still apply).
The qualifying agent is a single point of failure
Every contract company needs a licensed qualifying agent with three years of supervisory security or law enforcement experience. If that person leaves, the board must hear within 10 working days and a replacement is due within 30.
September 30 for every company license
All contract security company licenses expire on the same date, September 30. Officer licenses are different: each runs two years from its own issue date, so the office ends up tracking one fixed company deadline and dozens of rolling personal ones.
Eight hours, then a 30-day window
Initial training is at least eight hours from a board-certified trainer, use of force included. Officers apply within 30 days of starting work and carry a temporary card meanwhile; armed officers must be 21 and qualify with their firearm every calendar year.
Insurance well above most states
Section 34-27C-6 sets $2,000,000 for bodily or personal injury and $200,000 for property damage, and insurers must give the board 30 days’ notice before cancelling. A clean incident record is what keeps that policy affordable.
Plants, suppliers and the yards between them
Auto assembly plants and their supplier parks across central and north Alabama buy gate, perimeter and shift-change coverage, where proof that a patrol happened at 3 a.m. matters more than the report’s prose.
Huntsville, Mobile and Birmingham are different markets
Aerospace and defense contractors around Huntsville, the port and shipyards on Mobile Bay, and the medical centers and offices of Birmingham each want a different post order, a different report and a different client view.
Weekly overtime only
Alabama has no state overtime statute, so the federal Fair Labor Standards Act governs: time and a half after 40 hours in a workweek, no daily rule. Overtime in guarding usually comes from relief shifts, which is where the schedule has to be watched.

The accounts Alabama guard companies hold
Alabama questions, answered plainly
Does Birmingham or Mobile require its own guard license? +
No. Section 34-27C-18 of the Code of Alabama says no city or county may regulate the licensing or training of contract security companies or officers; only a bona fide business or occupational tax is allowed. The state license from the Alabama Security Regulatory Board is the one that counts.
How do we keep track of officer licenses that all expire on different dates? +
Each officer record in CGuardPro holds the license number, issue and expiry dates and a photo of the card. A daily check warns the office on a window you choose, from 7 to 120 days ahead, and repeats weekly until it is renewed. It warns rather than blocks and does not check the ASRB roster, so keep verifying there.
Do armed officers need anything beyond the state license? +
Yes. Under the board’s rules armed officers must be at least 21, take additional firearms training from a board-certified trainer and qualify with their firearm at least once each calendar year, and they also need a pistol permit from their county sheriff. Confirm current armed training hours with the ASRB, since its rule and current forms describe them differently.
Can a plant client see the patrols without calling us? +
Yes. Client logins open a portal with that client’s own sites: completed QR or NFC tour checkpoints with time and position, incident reports with photos, and daily activity reports. They see nothing from other accounts.
Does CGuardPro handle Alabama overtime rules? +
Alabama follows the federal 40-hour workweek with no daily overtime, and CGuardPro tracks each officer’s hours against a weekly threshold. Approved hours can go to Gusto as time sheets, or out as CSV, Excel or PDF for whichever payroll you use. It costs $5 per user per month with a 7-day free trial.
