North Dakota security guard software
for agencies licensed by the NDPISB

CGuardPro is security guard management software for North Dakota private security agencies: scheduling and relief coverage, GPS and selfie clock-in, QR and NFC guard tours, incident reports, post orders, training records, pocket card tracking and a client portal, with guard, supervisor and client apps for iOS and Android. It costs $5 per user per month with a 7-day free trial. North Dakota licenses agencies and registers every officer through the Private Investigation and Security Board, so the software keeps the records; the licenses stay yours.

What running guards in North Dakota actually involves

A dedicated state board, and three ranks of officer

The North Dakota Private Investigation and Security Board licenses agencies and registers every officer at one of three ranks: apprentice security officer, security officer or commissioned security officer. The agency is responsible for registering all of them.

Apprentices: 12 hours within 30 days

Under N.D. Admin. Code 93-02-02.1-05 a new apprentice completes 12 hours of classroom instruction or supervised field training within 30 days of registration, and until then works only under direct, onsite supervision of a security officer.

Promotion is counted in hours on post

Security officer rank takes 1,000 hours as an apprentice plus 32 classroom hours; commissioned rank takes 3,000 more hours plus 80 classroom hours. Military service counts toward the first 1,000. Your timesheets are the evidence.

Armed means peace-officer firearms training

An armed officer must hold at least security officer rank, complete the same firearms training required of North Dakota peace officers and hold an armed private security certificate (93-02-02.1-08). Apprentices cannot be armed.

$300,000 of insurance and a qualifying agent

An agency license requires a certificate of $300,000 of general liability with errors and omissions coverage, and a qualifying agent who is an officer or manager responsible for all agency personnel.

Everything renews on September 30

Board licenses and registrations are valid one year and expire on September 30. Every officer carries a board-issued pocket card on duty, and when someone leaves, the agency sends the card back to the board within seven days.

The Bakken oil field

Oil and gas sites, man camps, equipment yards and pipeline facilities in the Williston Basin put officers on remote posts with long drives, thin cell coverage and harsh winters, where offline reporting and timed rounds matter.

Two Air Force bases and the eastern cities

Minot and Grand Forks Air Force Bases, the universities in Grand Forks and Fargo, and hospitals and distribution in Fargo and Bismarck make up most of the steady contract posts in the east.

North Dakota questions, answered plainly

What does a new North Dakota officer need before working alone? +

They are registered by the agency as an apprentice security officer and must complete 12 hours of classroom instruction or supervised field training within 30 days. Until then they may work only under direct, onsite supervision of a security officer or commissioned security officer (N.D. Admin. Code 93-02-02.1-05). Confirm current rules with the NDPISB.

Can CGuardPro show how many hours an apprentice has worked toward security officer rank? +

CGuardPro records every clocked shift with time, GPS position and a selfie, and attendance exports in CSV, Excel or PDF give you the hours per officer for any period. Whether those hours qualify for promotion is the board’s decision; the software gives you the record to show it.

Everything expires on September 30. Can we be warned in time? +

Yes. Store each pocket card and the agency license with its expiry date, and a daily check warns the office on a window you choose, from 7 to 120 days ahead, repeating weekly until it is renewed. It warns rather than blocks, and it does not check the board’s records.

How is overtime handled in North Dakota? +

The Department of Labor and Human Rights requires time and a half for hours over 40 in a workweek, always calculated weekly. CGuardPro totals hours against a weekly threshold so you see overtime coming while you build the schedule, and approved hours can go to Gusto as time sheets.

Our oil-field posts have no signal for hours. Will the app cope? +

Incident reports, visitor entries and the start and end of a guard tour queue on the phone and sync when the connection returns. Clock-in with GPS and a selfie needs a live connection. It is $5 per user per month with a 7-day free trial.

Bring one oil-field site or one hospital and a week of posts, and we will set it up the way you run it.
