Maine security guard software
for contract security companies licensed through the Maine State Police
CGuardPro is security guard management software for Maine contract security companies: scheduling and relief coverage, GPS and selfie clock-in, QR and NFC guard tours, fire watch, incident reports, officer records with expiry alerts and a client portal, with guard, supervisor and client apps for iOS and Android. It costs $5 per user per month with a 7-day free trial. Maine licenses the company and leaves guard vetting to the licensee, so the records the software keeps matter.
What running guards in Maine actually involves
The company is licensed, not the guard
Maine issues a contract security company license through the Commissioner of Public Safety, administered by the Maine State Police (32 MRSA §9404). Guards work under that license; there is no separate state guard card for an unarmed officer employed by a licensee.
You vet every guard yourself
The licensee investigates each employee’s background against the qualifications in §9410-A and signs a statement to the commissioner. That puts the hiring file, not a state card, at the center of compliance.
Report a new guard before the first shift
Guards not listed on the license application must be reported to the commissioner before they begin performing security guard functions in Maine, with name, five years of addresses and physical description. Onboarding and reporting have to move together.
Firearms and strikes need the statement first
The signed background statement must reach the commissioner before a guard may wear, carry or use a firearm on duty, and before a guard works at the site of a labor dispute or strike. Picket-line work also carries its own restrictions in the chapter.
A one-year license and a residency bond
The company license runs one year and renews annually (§9408). The bond is $10,000 for a resident licensee and $50,000 for a non-resident (§9409), and changes in the qualifying agent or officers are reported within 30 days.
Weekly overtime
Maine law requires time and a half for hours worked over 40 in any one week (26 MRSA §664). There is no daily overtime threshold, so the weekly total is what a scheduler watches.
Hospitals, shipyards and mills
Hospital systems in Portland, Lewiston and Bangor, shipbuilding and naval yards on the southern coast, and paper and industrial sites inland are steady, year-round guard accounts.
A coast that fills up in summer
Tourism along the coast and in Acadia country swells events, hotels and seasonal properties from June to October, and rosters have to grow and shrink with it without losing track of who was reported to the state.

Step by step: Maine Security Guard Company License Guide
The accounts Maine guard companies hold
Maine questions, answered plainly
Does a Maine security guard need a state license? +
Not an individual card in the usual sense. Maine licenses the contract security company (32 MRSA §9404), and the company investigates each guard against the qualifications in §9410-A and reports them to the commissioner before they start. In-house guards of a proprietary security organization are excepted. Confirm current practice with the Maine State Police.
What has to happen before a Maine guard carries a firearm? +
The licensee must submit its signed statement that the guard’s background investigation is complete and the guard meets §9410-A before the guard may wear, carry or use a firearm on duty. Firearms training standards are not set out in that chapter, so confirm them with the Maine State Police.
Can CGuardPro hold the background-check record for each guard? +
Yes. Each officer record holds documents and credentials with dates and photos, and alerts warn the office before anything you date expires. It is a record and a reminder; it does not file reports with the state or decide who is qualified.
How does overtime work in Maine? +
Hours over 40 in a week are paid at time and a half under 26 MRSA §664. CGuardPro tracks hours against that weekly threshold, so the scheduler sees who is close before adding a summer shift.
How is it priced? +
It is $5 per user per month, one plan with every feature, plus an optional one-time implementation package of $299.99. A user is anyone with a login, including client logins. There is a 7-day free trial.
